Based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy principles, this highly effective approach employs three types of intervention:

This program is facilitated by the Mental Health Team.
This 6-week program is for children aged 10 to 12 who have been diagnosed with ADHD or are experiencing issues with anger management or impulsivity issues. This group program will teach children skills in communication, anger management, problem solving, and dealing with emotions using interactive, hands-on activities. Parents will also have the opportunity to learn strategies to support their child in applying these skills as well as learn from our special guest speakers including our Pharmacist and Registered Dietitian.

The Building Your Hero group is an 8-week educational and experiential-learning group. The focus of the group is to teach parents basic and advanced skills in communicating with their children in such a way that their children feel valued and worthy. The group content helps facilitate communication and support parents in raising confident and happy children. Parents will be shown new strategies and encouraged to develop even more on their own.

TThe Making Connections group is ongoing throughout the year. The group is offered to those 18 years of age and older who are struggling with isolation and/or depression, chronic conditions, anxiety, and self-esteem concerns.

This 8-week introductory level program is available only to adults 18 years of age and over.
Mindfulness is about being fully aware of whatever is happening in the present moment, and consists of cultivating awareness of the mind and body and living in the here and now. Strategies employed in this program are based on mindfulness meditation and mindful yoga in order to help manage stress, enhance balance of body and mind, and promote improved well-being and healing.

This 8-week group program is for people diagnosed with depression, who want to work on strategies to assist in managing their symptoms. This group will teach the skills and techniques that help in managing depression in everyday life. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, participants will learn how thoughts and behaviours are connected with mood. Through group collaboration, behavioural exercises and action planning, participants will learn how to lessen their depression.

Many people want to take control of their eating but feel they lack the willpower to change. Craving Change™ is a workshop designed to help you understand WHY you eat the way you do and to help you do something positive about it. Using fun activities and self reflection in a group setting, the Craving Change™ program you will learn how to:

This 8-week group program concentrates on developing a healthier lifestyle and focuses on a non-diet approach to weight management using lifestyle and behavioural modifications. Each weekly session focuses on a different topic such as: factors that affect eating patterns and behaviours, nutrition, active living, goal setting, food triggers and self-image, managing roadblocks and strategies for dining out and special occasions.
The goal of the program is to help patients make permanent lifestyle changes and reach and maintain a healthier weight.

Available to patients identified as having any of the following:
You will learn about risk factors for diabetes and heart disease. Lifestyle strategies to reduce your risk of diabetes and heart disease will be reviewed, including: healthy eating, physical activity, stress management and smoking cessation. You will have the opportunity to set goals to help get started on lifestyle changes. You will have the opportunity to follow up in with the dietitian and/or health educator to assist with developing further goals.
